Acta — Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 11, 2026
Overview
Acta is designed to work without an account. We collect the minimum
data needed to run the service, and we never sell your data.
Data we collect
- App and device identifiers — random identifiers generated by
the app, plus app version, language, and operating-system version. They are
not your Apple ID and do not identify you across other companies' apps.
- Your goals and records — everything you track (goals, daily
records, notes) is stored locally on your device by default. There is no account.
The limited exceptions are goal-creation processing, AI coaching, and feedback diagnostics
described below.
- Goal creation data — when you create a goal, the goal
description and your questionnaire answers are sent through our gateway to an
AI provider to generate your plan. When you accept a generated plan and either start
a free goal or reach the purchase screen, we also retain a limited analytics record: the initial goal text,
questions and answers, generated or edited plan details, action choices, AI
model and performance metadata, app version and language, the result of the
creation flow, and an app-generated identifier. We use this record to diagnose
failures and improve goal planning. We request that the AI provider not collect
this content, and neither the provider nor Acta uses it to train AI models.
- AI goal coaching — when you send a coaching message or request an AI reflection, plan adjustment, or next-goal brief, we send the context needed for that request through our gateway to the AI provider. This includes the goal, a limited recent conversation, and selected records. Free conversations use up to seven days of records without journal text. Pro tools may use up to 56 days of records with short note excerpts, closing notes, and summaries of up to three prior goals. Full conversations and closing notes remain stored on your device; Acta does not store these request or reply contents in its gateway database. We store only hashed installation identifiers, random request identifiers, status, and timestamps for weekly usage limits and abuse prevention. These rows expire after 21 days and are removed by our daily scheduled cleanup or the next coaching request. Coaching content is excluded from automatic AI diagnostic attachments in feedback. If you choose to use an AI-prepared brief to create a new goal, that reviewed text becomes goal-creation data under the policy above.
- Anonymous usage events — basic events such as app opens,
completed records, and goal creation (never the text of your goals or notes),
used to understand how the app is used and to improve it. The limited goal
creation analytics record described above is the only separate analytics path
that includes goal or plan content.
- No cross-app tracking — Acta does not include an advertising
SDK, request App Tracking Transparency permission, collect Apple's advertising
identifier (IDFA), or combine app data with data from other companies' apps or
websites for advertising. Advertising campaigns are evaluated only with
aggregate delivery and outbound-click reports from the advertising platform
and aggregate campaign reports from Apple; those reports are not joined to an
Acta device identifier, goal, record, or subscription profile.
- Feedback and support data — only when you tap Send in Acta,
we store the topic and message, an optional reply email, the app and device
information above, a summary of feature usage, recent in-app action names and
times, and up to five recent AI request/response diagnostics. An AI diagnostic
may include the goal description, questionnaire answers, or generated plan text
involved in that request. To alert the owner, we send a copy of the feedback
message, topic, app version, operating-system version, language, the full reply
email you provided, and whether a photo was attached to the owner's private Slack workspace.
We do not send the diagnostic JSON, recent action properties, device or session
identifiers, or photo file to Slack. If the message contains
no Korean text, we send only the feedback message through our AI provider to
create a Korean translation for that private alert, while requesting that the
provider not collect it. Acta shows an offline saved state if the message has not
yet reached our server.
How we use and process data
We use this data to operate Acta, generate plans, understand product usage,
respond to feedback, investigate bugs, prevent abuse, and manage subscriptions.
Service providers process data only for those purposes: Cloudflare hosts our
gateway, feedback database, and goal creation analytics database; our AI provider
generates plans, coaching replies, and Korean translations of non-Korean feedback;
Slack delivers limited feedback alerts to the owner's private workspace; Amplitude
handles usage analytics; RevenueCat manages subscription status; and Apple processes
purchases. The app-generated identifier may correlate a
goal creation record with Acta's own usage events, but Acta does not provide
advertising or cross-app matching identifiers to these service providers.
What we don't do
- No account or sign-up is required. We collect an email address only if you
choose to request a reply to feedback; we do not collect your contacts.
- Acta does not display third-party advertising inside the app.
- Acta has no advertising SDK and does not track you across other companies'
apps or websites.
- We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers or advertising networks.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive anonymized purchase state
(e.g. whether a subscription is active) to unlock features, but we never see
your payment details.
Data retention & deletion
Usage data is tied to an app-generated identifier. Goal creation analytics records
are automatically removed after 365 days, and their usage-limit counters after 30
days. Feedback diagnostic snapshots (usage summary, recent actions, AI diagnostics,
and extensible diagnostic fields) are automatically removed from the feedback
database after 30 days. The feedback message, optional reply email, status, and
associated identifiers may be retained as needed to respond, resolve the issue,
prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Limited feedback-alert copies in the
owner's private Slack workspace are retained only as needed for support and issue
investigation and are also subject to that workspace's retention settings. Deleting the app removes locally stored
goals, records, and identifiers from your device. You may request deletion of
associated server records via the contact below.
